Foot Pain With Children

I got the question today whether or not it was normal for a child to have pain with walking? The question was posed to me in the fashion that it was more than likely a growing pain that would get better but wanted to ask anyways. However, the child we were speaking of was seven. The child will not be finished growing for 7-8 years. Does this mean the child will have to deal with the pain for this long? The answer is simply no. Growing pains are not normal and very treatable. If your child is having pain with walking/sports/exercise or recess this is not normal. Have the issue evaluated and treated. It is amazing how some of theses pains have such simple conservative treatments. Make sure when you present to the doctor you come prepared. Bring all of the shoes they are wearing on a regular basis. And be ready to re-create the situation that is causing the pain. Always helps to see things in person.
