Christmas in the House

With Christmas around the corner a lot of people will be in their house during the Holidays. For many of these people that involves barefoot walking. This can lead to many issues. Stepping on an ornament creating a foreign body, heel pain, blisters, increased pressure on a callous. Always remember that people with Diabetes should never walk barefoot. There are many ways to avoid issues with barefoot walking. One easy way is wearing socks that cushion and protect the foot. The best way is buy a croc/slip-on shoe or slippers with an in-sole. If you never walk outside with these shoes on then very unlike to dirty up your house with walking in them. There are always tricks to prevention and a happy healthy holiday season. Just ask the doctor. Dr. Thomas

Fall Shoe Gear

With the upcoming change in weather also presents a change in shoe gear. Many people have questions about the best shoe or sock. This is a very difficult question to answer because what may be comfortable for one person may not be for another. I always stress that patients buy shoes that breathe or conform nicely to their foot and are comfortable. However the general rule is that shoes be updated every six to seven months depending on the use. The best way I can help a patient with shoes is for the patient to bring many of the styles of shoe in they wear. This gives me the chance to exam their feet and biomechanics and watch how they walk. I can then guide them into better shoes as well. Another option is to provide patients with orthotics which can help many shoes feel better. Triangle Foot and Ankle Specialist does a great job of getting patients in right away so don't let the upcoming weather affect your feet. Let Dr. Jeremy Thomas guide you into proper shoe gear for the winter and fall season.

Heel Pain

Being in Cary, NC as a podiatrist is real thrill because I am mostly surrounded by athletic patients who remain very active. With this activity comes heel pain. A very common complaint. People usually describe this pain as throbbing or sharp shooting in the heel or bottom of the foot. At Triangle Foot and Ankle Specialist we strive to get these patients in right away. The reason is the sooner we begin the treatment the easier it is to get them better. Often an x-ray is taken to rule out causes of the issue. Once a diagnosis is made the treatment can be rendered. If your heel hurts then do not assume it will get better have Dr. Jeremy Thomas check it in his office. Many stars such as Peyton Manning have been treated for similiar conditions in the past with success. If your concerned about your pain call our office or visit the website at www.trianglefoot.com

It is getting warm outside and with the increase in heat comes a change in shoe gear. Most people are transitioning to sandals and flip flops. With this change from supportive shoes to flats comes pain in the heel. Heel pain can be many different things and always needs to be checked by a podiatrist. Often times and x-ray is taken to r/o fracture and other possible ailments. Most likely it can be treated easily in the office as plantar fasciitis.
